Dehradun: Because of the busyness of several other important programs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government could not find the time for the conference of the Himalayan states, so the state government has now postponed the program till the time of the prime minister. Province Chief Minister Trivandra Singh Rawat wanted the Prime Minister to participate in this program so that Uttarakhand, including the Himalayan states, got the benefit of it. After avoiding the program, the Chief Minister of the state, Trivendra Singh Rawat has now instructed to do state-level conference.
It is notable that the conference of the Himalayan states was proposed in the province’s capital Dehradun in September, but it did not find the time for the prime minister. Now, when the conference will be held, its date is not fixed at the moment. Knowers of Himalayan subjects believe that with the collapse of the conference, a golden opportunity also slipped away from the hands of Uttarakhand. On the pretext of this conference, Uttarakhand could emerge as a leader among Himalayan states. Now Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has instructed to conduct state-level conference.
On the instructions of the Chief Minister, there was a plan of action for the conference of Himalayan states. In the conference, the Chief Ministers and Chief Secretaries of the North Eastern States along with neighboring Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir were called. The prime minister was to attend as the chief guest at the conference. Apart from them, experts from the Union Ministers, Himalaya’s environment, development, economics, human resources, cultural and social aspects were to be invited and there were churning on these issues. The planning department was made nodal of the program.
The Planning Department had also invited tender for event management. About 15 crores was spent on this grand event, but during a meeting in the past, the Chief Minister had asked the Prime Minister for the time to the conference, but due to busyness, the time could not be found.
Now the state government will hold state-level conference. In this conference, prominent people working on the concerns of the Himalayas will be invited. The agenda for the conference of Himalayan states will be prepared by the issues, questions and ideas raised by them in the conference.
Additional Secretary Planning Dr. Ranjit Sinha told that the time was not available to the Prime Minister. At the moment, the conference has been postponed. Chief Minister has instructed to convene at the state level. The conference will be held on September 10, in which people working on the Himalaya’s concerns will be invited.
